cuddly girl

Obviously, I don't post every time I see my princess anymore. But yesterday, Zeek and I went to help Gwen do her feet. She was so snuggly and sweet. We stood her outside in the sun for the warmth, and she soaked it up with her head on me and her eyes half closed. Zeek asked if she was sleeping.

Zeek did some shoveling for Gwin. Gwen did an excellent job, as always, on her mani/pedi. :) I groomed her and put on her nail polish (oils). She also loved her new, all natural, alfalfa cube treats. They smell so good I thought about taking a bite myself.

After her morning at the spa we took a short walk, and then I turned her back out to play with her friends. So sweet, all three of them.
I can NOT wait for spring!

Nicole

Today I took my new neighbor to meet and ride Gwin. Nicole has only been here a few weeks, but is already terribly missing her own horse back home.
We had fun. We each took turns riding. Gwin was in a good mood, although she was hesitant about doing any kind of work, of course. :)
I hope Nicole and I get to go out together more in the future. It was nice to have a horse lover with me.

Winter Visits

It's dark early, it's icy under the snow, it's either warm enough and raining, or far too cold to be riding. Quick little stops to say hello and groom are about all we've had these last couple of months.

It's going to be cold and snowy tomorrow, so we went by Gwin today. Gwen and I put the horses out in the pasture to run and play. They were so beautiful in the snow.

Then, she and I cleaned up. I didn't really get to spend a lot of time with Gwin, but I got to see her and love her. I can't wait for spring!

snowy foot

Today was the last warm day we should have for awhile. It was almost 40! I couldn't believe how nice it felt.

I went to see and ride my girl. She was a little squirrely, so I was glad to be getting her out for a little exercise. She saddled like it's been a year. Of course, I've only been riding her bare for the past couple of months. Sweet thing. We did not use a bitted bridal though. Just her rope harness. She's even great with leg reigning even under saddle.
She's come so far. :)

We had a fun little traipse through the snow. It was a little scary for me at first because it was pretty icy under some of the snow. But once I remembered that Gwin has been walking through snow for 20 years, and she does have a few legs to stand on, we were golden.

I loved seeing her and spending time together. I am so looking forward to the spring when we can be together more often.

snow rides

Today, Zeek and I went to see Gwin.
Gwen and Morgan were there to clean up and ride.
I cuddled and groomed Gwin.
Then I rode her bareback while Zeek and Morgan played in the snow together.

It was a beautiful afternoon.

Gwin and I trotted bare for the first time.
She was SO sweet and sensitive and attentive.
Like never before.
It's been a few weeks since I've ridden, and that could have done it.
Sweet girl.

Then, Zeek asked to ride.
Morgan rode Angel and Zeek rode Gwin around in the pen together.

It was so cute.
I could see them growing up together to be ridding buddies.

Gwen rode with Morgan on Angel. I didn't realize it was okay to do that.
I know we always did it when we were kids,
and as much as I'd LOVE to with Zeek on Gwin,
I wasn't too keen on the idea.
Now that I know it's fine we are SO going to start doubling.
I can't wait. ;)

Peace

I went to visit and ride Gwin today. She was happy and warm. She enjoyed her grooming, and we did some playing on foot in the round pen. Then, we rode bareback inside and out. It was relaxing and nice to be with her. She was sweet.

Jumping

Today, Zeek and I spent about three hours with with Gwin. We worked with her in the round pen to lift her core a little. What better (or more fun way) than to have her jump!

We lunged and jumped her without a lead for about an hour, and then Zeek rode her for about 40 minutes. I made her jumping obstacles wider so she would have to work a little bit harder than in the past.

We made a short video, and although I look like a nine year old kid running, hopping, and skipping around, the embarrassment is worth sharing her beautiful jumping:
